The late-1980s GPz 900R Ninja was the 1984 design after Kawasaki's 1990 update, which brought a 17-inch front wheel, wider wheels, thicker 41 mm forks and larger 300 mm front discs with four-piston calipers. A review drawn from Fast Bikes praises its high-speed stability, strong brakes and generous fuel range. It also notes the bike weighed over 227 kg and was by then seen as more of a sports tourer than a leading performance machine.
